Work In Stone
at Stephanie Burns Fine Art
30th May — 6 July 2002

"Sebastian McIntyre is an exception in more than one way. Not only does he carve marble, but he also does it with a playful irreverence for its history and association with the monumental traditions of the past."

"I was intrigued by McIntyre's imaginative use of materials, elements of glass and even rubber in different pieces. In Bluebottle he has incorporated an 'eye' of hot-formed glass and in Kephale he has given his squid tentacles of red rubber. Incongruous as it may sound, the latter is most effective."
